Hospital dentistry is an option for patients who cannot tolerate treatment in the normal dental office setting. The children who benefit from this service are young children with special health care or extensive dental needs, or fearful and anxious children. For these children, hospital dentistry offers a compassionate, efficient alternative.
Treatment will be completed under general anesthesia at Shriners Hospital for Children. A medical anesthesiologist will manage the anesthesia and your child will become unconscious and sleep during the entire procedure. Generally, all the necessary dental treatment is completed in one visit and your child will be discharged the same day. Of course, follow-up visits are necessary to ensure that your child stays on the path of good oral health.
If you have any questions about hospital dentistry or think that it may be necessary for your child, please contact us.
